A business called “Robot Village” has opened in Manhattan — basically a robot store where you can buy, rent and even learn to build robots. The store also throws robot theme parties for you, and sells all manner of robot-related gear. The Robot Village is even planning a BATTLEBOT CLASS. [via]. Link.
DIY Tempest for Eliza
All electronic devices send out eletromagnetic waves, so does your monitor – and your monitor does it all the time at very high frequencies. High enough for your short wave AM radio. All you have to do is display the “correct” image on your screen and your monitor will emit the “right” signals. Tempest for Eliza displays pictures on your screen. One for each note in the song. Vex Robotics Programming Really Out?
William writes “Radio Shack has made the Vex Robotics Programming kit “in stock” for online and phone orders. Word on the street is that most ‘shacks don’t have them in-store”. I think Radio Shacks aren’t going to carry these in store as they continue to move towards a consumer electronics only inventory. Link.
Sony PSP running Macintosh System 7.5.5
Ryan St. Evens and Digg pointed me towards another interesting thing to do with a PSP “Through a combination of PSPbochs (x86 emulator for PSP) and vMac (680×0 emulator for x86) – Mac OS 7 is running on a PSP! Since it’s an emulator running on an emulator running on a slow-ish processor, the whole thing takes about 4 hours to boot. But who cares?!” [via] Link.
