It can be said that the domestic house cat is a cute shadow of their much larger, fearsome cousins who stalk their prey in the wilds of the world. While that may be true, none of those lions, tigers, and panthers have their own 3D printed battle armor to keep them safe while looking intimidating, unlike Thingiverse user Jwall’s furry friend Bobo.

Each piece of armor is connected together using a series of brass fasteners, however 3D printed rivets can also be used.

Jwall began his design by rough sketching the various pieces on paper while subconsciously taking inspiration from Battle Cat, He-Man’s trusty companion. He then transitioned over to Maxon’s Cinema 4D to transfer his designs into CAD models to be 3D printed with 18 pieces in all, including a skull-mounted chest plate with key ring and a hole on the back armor to attach a leash.

Jwall created the cat armor for two purposes: The first was to make a Halloween costume and the other reason was to create personal protection against angry dogs and other hostile creatures. The armor will eventually include a helmet for Bobo to wear that Jwall asked his video viewers to design.

Jwall states that the helmet is almost complete and is currently undergoing the final touches. He will post an update video once it’s completed. He has also posted the .STL files on Thingiverse for anyone who would like to print their own, which can be found here.
