Gingerbread Starship U.S.S. Enterprise

Gingerbread Starship U.S.S. Enterprise

This Christmas, one bakery chose to boldly go where no gingerbread man has gone before. Black Market Bakery in Costa Mesa California has created this incredible homage to the original Star Trek series with their faithful gingerbread recreation of the NCC-1701 U.S.S. Enterprise.

The attention to detail is incredible. Any Trekkie will look at this and know instantly that this is the NCC-1701-A due to the warp nacelle having that nice long blue … sour tape.

Daaaah, but… “any Trekkie would know” that this is not necessarily 1701-A. In the first three movies the Enterprise we see is *the same ship* from The Original Series – the entire Constitution class underwent a refit.

Don’t believe me? Watch Wrath of Khan again – the registry number has, as they say, ‘no bloody A, B, C, or D”! (Or if you’re willing to tolerate the first movie, watch that one for some scripted references to the refit – it’s kind of a slow-paced flick though, so be warned.)

Anyway, pesky picayune Trek-talk aside – this is a really really nice cookie.

When did the dish with antennae change to the blue deflector dish? In TOS we can see the antenna but motion picture had the blue dish and different looking nacelles(?)
