These are from Etsy seller ikymagoo, who also has red and yellow versions. They seem a bit pricey to me at $200 a set, but it also seems like an easy re-make. A while back Schenectady Museum curator Chris Hunter came across some old pallophotophone recordings from radio station WGY. “What’s a pallophotophone?”, you might ask. Also known as the RCA Photophone, it’s an early recording device developed by GE researcher Charles Hoxie. GE Engineer Russ DeMuth, recreates a pallophotophone from Hoxie’s original design and manages to extract some rather interesting recordings.

Josh Rosenstock and the Nomadic Remix Jacket

Josh Rosenstock brought his Nomadic Remix jacket and other projects to the recent Cambridge Mini Maker Faire. His jackets work by recording ambient audio from your surroundings and then chopping the sound up and playing it back through speakers sewn into the collar.
