Handy when watching videos, and it lets me have it connected to external speakers and the charger – while on the stand. It is very simple to make, and only cost me about 20 minutes and 25 cents worth of plastic.” [via] Link.

HOW TO – Stretch a canvas…

HOW TO – Stretch a canvas…

Stretching 011 ThumbQuick and easy how to on Apartment therapy “Stretching a canvas is easy. You take four planks of wood, make a rectangle and pull the canvas over it. (Or pay framing stores a lot of money to do it for you…). Before you get frustrated starting from scratch get ready made heavy duty stretcher bars (best & cheapest:Utrecht Art Supplies). Their ends fit together so precisely that you don´t need glue or nails. Asembly time for the perfect rectangle: 60 seconds.” [via] Link.

The Posterity Eradicator and a DIY heart monitor…

FoilGThing has some interesting photos on Flickr, the first is a homemade ECG that appears to send signals through a keyboard. Next up, the Posterity Eradicator, a unique device that will ensure years of trouble free non-reproduction. It’s cell phone that directs the harmless/ful radiation directly at your lap or skull, depending on how you wear it. There’s also a cigar box guitar and retro phone headset if you poke around too, neat stuff! Link. You can view more about all the projects here.

Sploitcast – Emulating magnetic cards…

New Splotcast, good stuff – “We were lucky enough to be joined by Ab3nd. He spoke at Shmoocon 2006, explaining the principals of magnetic card emulation. We loved his presentation so much that we asked him to join SploitCast, and much to our delight he accepted our invitation. SploitCast episode #004 focuses around the dangers of magnetic cards, the methods for emulating them, and their future. We discuss very lightly the topic of RFID as an alternative to the problems created by magnetic cards in such things as credit cards. The speakers in this episode are the wonderful ab3nd, Harrison Holland, and Kim Holland.” Link. In MAKE 01 we show you how to make your own mag stripe reader

HOW TO – Make a glowing keyboard

HOW TO – Make a glowing keyboard

Glow KeyboardChris writes – “This is my (our) first modification. We got the inspiration from Arkku on flickr. We did ours a bit differently, he used 1 LED, we used 2. The process is the same for each. Since there are only 5 volts to work with, both versions require the circuit to be built in parallel. I just have one more parallel circuit in my mod. There are two options for this mod. One involves removing the circuit board, the other leaves it in and splices the connecting wire. The choice is yours.” Link.
