New in the Maker Shed: ProtoSnap Pro Mini

New in the Maker Shed: ProtoSnap Pro Mini

The ProtoSnap, from the Maker Shed, is an Arduino compatible development platform for teaching the basics of Arduino programming efficiently. It requires no assembly, wiring, or soldering, so you can jump right into programming. Control LEDs, buzzers, light sensors, and more. There’s even a small prototyping space so you can add your own circuits. Once you have a firm grasp of the programming, you can snap off the individual components of the ProtoSnap for use in future projects.

In the Maker Shed: Poulsen’s Wire Recoder Kit

Poulsen’s Wire Recoder Kit, from the Maker Shed, uses wire and magnetism to record sound. Danish engineer Valdemar Poulsen discovered that it was possible to record electrical signals in magnetic material and invented the magnetic wire recorder (telegraphone) in 1898. This simple yet fascinating kit lets you explore this phenomenon not just on wire but anything magnetic! Save your voice on scissors, chairs, or even an escalator!

ShapeLock Robotic Arm

I used some ShapeLock the other day to fix my washing machine but Alexey from Russia used some to make this robotic arm and controller! Each piece was hand crafted out of ShapeLock by hand using hot water and a hairdryer. The electronics consist of an Arduino variant, servos, and some potentiometers for the controller.

Back in the Maker Shed: Redpark Breakout Pack for Arduino and iOS

Back in the Maker Shed: Redpark Breakout Pack for Arduino and iOS

Ever since the release of the Redpark Cable for iOS and Brian Jepson’s Make: Project, this bundle has been scarce. We just received a shipment of parts so the Redpark Breakout Pack for Arduino and iOS is currently back in the Maker Shed! For those that missed it, this cable along with the P4 RS232 adapter lets you talk to microcontrollers and sensors with your iOS powered device without jail breaking!
