Maker Faire

Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth — a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the maker movement.

Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these people come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.

Meet the Makers: Lightchimes

Meet the Makers: Lightchimes

Jimmy Chion, Jason Chua, and Kiran Malladi are the creators of Lightchimes, 169 hanging LED pendants. The circuit is simple, but the results are complex. This project is about interaction- without interference from a participant, the lights would never shine. Similarly, without collaborative interaction, this project would never have become a reality.

Lightchimes will be at Maker Faire Bay Area, May 21 & 22, where you can experience the mesmerizing twinkling firsthand.

Tim O’Reilly rides the Jet Ponies at World Maker Faire NY

This ride, built by the dastardly danger-hackers at the Madagascar Institute, scares the daylights out of me. But some men are braver than I am. Like Tim O’Reilly (yes, that Tim O’Reilly) who didn’t seem too apprehensive about straddling a pulse jet welded to a glorified swing set. I don’t know about him, but my heart is still racing!
