Your article mentioned a few GPS devices, including one BT device. I have (and love) the Holux GPSlim236, an unit not mentioned in your Toolbox section.

The great thing about such a tiny BT device is that it is extremely portable and will interface to about anything (with BT, that is). There is no logging function, but the LEDs let you know when you have a fix - after that, it just spews out NMEA data. I also have that same GPS receiver and used to use it back in the day for navigation on my old laptops about 5 years ago, man how time flies.
