Build Your Own Fire Wood Splitter

8 MAKE pal Hans writes “It’s almost that time of year again in about two weeks I will be starting to help split and stack wood for the winter. (I like to do this before it gets 30 below Fahrenheit.) And with gas prices up this (project) may be even more useful…” Link.

This is actually really cool. I’ve been looking for a project to hone my welding skills on, and my parents (and I when I’m around) cut and split 1.5 truckloads of wood every year with a chainsaw and a maul. While splitting a log with a maul is extremely satisfying, this would probably save them a lot of work.

Did you get a copy of this yet? The link still does not work and I would like to know how to build a log splitter also. Thanks.
