Bruce’s latest project is an EL84 Push-Pull Tube Amplifier. LM317 Regulators are used for constant current sources (CCS) to set the bias of the output stage. It is interesting to see a modern semiconductor combine with vacuum tube technology.

The proble you had with this amp, the voltage issue.
You could solve this, even though you already did, by delaying the relay that triggers B+
This way, your tubes can get up to temp. before the hi voltage nails them.
I use 2 6DM4 rectifiers in all my projects because of the time delay they have.
My tubes get hot before the hi voltage hits them, and the B+ rises slowly in comparison.
