A good friend of mine offered up an old style cabinet TV.. and for some reason it called out to become a bar! Thank you Sally! This project is an experiment in MANY ways. It’s the first time I tackled grouting. First time I’ve cut glass. First time I sewed a curtain. Because of all these firsts… I was scared to invest moula and the result is that it is also recycled in many ways! The TV insided have been brought away to stay out of a land fill. The shelves, are mostly pieces of old mdf board that have been in the attic since my move… (they weren’t deep enough so I ended up gluing multiple ones together). The MP3 player drawer… is a cigar box, found somewhere. The speakers, which you can’t seen.. we also an attic find.

This is a great idea. The result looks very classy.

I suppose you could turn ‘em into puppet show stages too!

I wish the cases of just-a-few-years-ago modern TVs were similarly reusable. I’m starting to see lots of big CRT sets just left out by the dumpsters. No one wants to bother even with bringing them down to Goodwill.

I have an early 60s TV case that I made into a bar similar to that, though not nearly as nice. Good job!

I found mine in a burned out attic along with an early 50s tv case that I turned into a computer/tv. My bar tv has been a printer stand and storage, a plant shelf, a stereo rack. I just kept on recycling it till it became the bar.

Holy Moly! I have that same exact TV, and it still works.

I made a humdrum filing cabinet out of an old 50′s-60′s era TV a while back on Instructables Vintage TV Cabinet Redux. This is much cooler.
