Peter William Wagner bounces across the fairgrounds at Maker Faire Bay Area 2011, delighting everyone whose path he crosses. The big purple eccentric-axled bike has two inflated all-terrain wheels that can also function as flotation for the aquatic parts of the annual Kinetic Grand Championship in and around Arcata, California, where this “whim-cycle” has appeared for the last six years. Even Peter’s baby granddaughter enjoys the ride.

*Arcata*, not Arcadia. Arcadia is next to Pasadena in Southern California, and Arcata (which is where the Kinetic Grand Championship is held) is on the north coast of California (5 hours drive north of SF).

His last comment about shifting got me thinking. You should be able to implement a clutch for higher speeds right? (see half-ass 5 min sketchup image)
Pretty cool, although I wish the video showed some aquatic action.
Bouncing for a brighter future…
except for that kid who now has shaken-baby-syndrome…
