We know many of you have been patiently waiting, biting your nails in anticipation. The moment has finally come for us to announce the winners of the Make: The Shot Challenge.

If you will recall, the contest started back in April and the goal was simple. Submit the most inventive creation you can, and you could win some really nice Nikon camera gear valued at $3,600!

We got many really cool entries. There were incredible photographs, computerized rigs, art displays, custom parts, and more. Judging was quite a daunting task. We have to choose winners though, that’s our job! So, without further adieu, here they are.

In first place we have John Schwarz with his Moving Time-Lapse Rig.

John is the lucky recipient of:

Nikon 1 V3 Kit (includes 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM, Camera Grip GR-N1010, and Electronic Viewfinder DF-N1000) and 3 additional lenses

  • 1 NIKKOR VR 70-300 f/4.5-5.6
  • 1 NIKKOR 32mm f/1.2
  • 1 NIKKOR 10-100mm f/4.0-5.6 VR

The first runner up is Nathan Trantham, who created an Internet-Enabled Light Painting Machine

The second runner up is Pat Murray with the Arduino Controlled Flash Sequencer.

The runners up will each be receiving one Nikon 1 V3 Kit (includes 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM, Camera Grip GR-N1010, and Electronic Viewfinder DF-N1000).
