Artist creates tribute to the Lord of the Rings with stained glass lamp

Fans of the Lord of the Rings trilogy have created some interesting DIY projects since the movies were released that range from crafted detailed weapon replicas to a massive Eye of Sauron Bundt cake. One fan chose to illuminate her love of the trilogy by designing an incredible stained glass lamp that features three different scenes from each of the films. Artist [alledelgardo] designed the lamp by first drawing the various pieces of the scenes and then cutting the individual pieces of stained glass using them as a template.

Since the glass cannot be directly soldered together, the artist used copper foil to line the edges of the glass and with a little bit of flux and tinning, painstakingly soldered them all together. She then used patina to chemically oxidize the solder and turn it black, giving the lamp that ‘old world’ look. The lettering on the bottom was etched into the glass and reads ‘One Ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them’, in both English and Black Speech.
