A couple of weeks ago at Maker Faire UK we sat down with some of the Makers there to talk not just about what they’d brought along to the Faire, but about what Maker Faire meant to them.
One of those Makers was Simon Clark. His collection of hand-built retro arcade machines was mobbed throughout the Faire, and not just by those of us that could remember the games the first time around, but also by the younger generation. You might have thought that anyone born since the turn of century would look at games like Pac Man and Street Fighter with some amount of puzzlement, but apparently great games are eternal.
Of course not all of the games Simon brought along to the Faire were quite as old as they seemed, his custom built Fix it Felix Jr. could almost make you believe that the game was real. In case you’re getting false memories, the movie came first.
