=========================

Maker Faire Detroit is this weekend! I’m so excited for this one. Detroit always seems to have a certain energy that I just can’t help but get swept up in. Every time I visit I’m blown away by the beautiful street art, the sculptures and robots born from debris, and the innovations that surprise me.

There are a few things I’m especially looking forward to at this Maker Faire

Henry Ford Museum Clocktower and Campus sign

The Henry Ford

The Henry Ford, where Maker Faire Detroit is held, is a fantastic mix of 300 years of history and amazing glances at innovation. There are museums of bygone achievements mixed with fantastical displays of incredible things happening now and hopefully in the future. This location is worth a visit any time, especially during Maker Faire.

Megabots

I don’t think I really need to explain why this is exciting. I mean… giant robots built to battle for our amusement are pretty much guaranteed to draw a crowd. Every time I see Megabots they have some new accessory or addition to the robot in preparation for the grand and secret plans they have to create a giant robot fighting league.

Power Tool Drag Racing

Taking old power tools, making them a bit more mobile and a lot more ridiculous looking, and unleashing them on a racetrack is a sure fire way to get me cheering. These tools use saw blades, drill bits, and all other kinds of random debris to tear their way to the end of the track, often hitting stuffed animals and causing an eruption of fluffy carnage. I love these races!

The Live Feed!

Probably the coolest thing about this Maker Faire though, is that you don’t have to be there! We’ll be streaming all day Saturday and Sunday on our Twitch channel. We’re trying to mix things up a bit and give tastes of all the different things going on at the Maker Faire, so you’ll see us going to different sections and exploring a bit.

Here is our tentative schedule for Twitch, though some of this might change as the weekend unfolds. All times are Eastern Timezone.
