The AirMouse begins with the human form and builds functionality around it. The AirMouse is composed of a lightweight durable fabric that seamlessly aligns itself with the ligaments of your hand and wrist and assists them into a neutral posture during use preventing you from developing computer-related repetitive stress injuries such as carpel tunnel syndrome normally associated with other computer mouse use.
I’m not sure I really buy that this is better than a mouse — in my experience, the goal is to find the perfect posture and then move your hand as little as possible. Waving your hand around or hovering it seems like it would cause more stress rather than less. On the plus side, this bad boy would look great with your Thompson Eyephones. [via gizmag]

Its amazing comparing this to the prototype used on the show.
Old idea that’s never really caught on, more or less a new and improved cyber glove. Im afraid the idea has missed it’s window of opportunity with the emergence with Multi-Touch displays. As flat pannel prices drop and the multiple methods of touch and proximity sensing mature Multi-Touch will more than likely displace mice and trackballs that is unless a better technology emerges.
Oh and this is just shilling for venture capital, booooooooooo!
The glove idea didnt catch on because they were Expensive, only available generally for game machines and werent very capable. They took a glove, dotted buttons all over it.. pretty much it.
Touch control will never replace controllers. First you interfere with your view with touchscreens. Second there is less actual control. Third dedicated touchpads are far too large. Multitouch is carpal tunnel just waiting to happen.. its neat but thats about it.
Better controllers/mouse are coming out though and theres no reason this tech cant be used with them. you can easily determine finger and wrist position which would be great for games , art, design. no reason you cant incorporate a small laser into the palm so the glove is actually a mouse as well. Incorporate musclewire and you have the best feedback possible. You can build it out of flexible plastic so you can “slip it on” in a millisecond. At first those owuld cost $$$ but then everything computer related does.
