A tiny postal service has been quietly operating out of a knothole in a tree along a hiking trail in the hills above Berkley, California, since last December, but now, the creators of The World’s Smallest Post Office want to announce its secret location.
Until now, the location of the tiny treehouse has been kept secret; it’s tiny delights reserved for those with a patient hiking pace and a keen eye. Now we want to share it with all of you, and encourage locals and visitors alike to get out into the woods and follow the map to hidden treasure.
The treehouse post office was created as a gift to former Editorial Director here at MAKE Gareth Branwyn after he wrote an essay about The World’s Smallest Postal Service, and more recently, mentioned it in his new book Borg Like Me.
In the past 6 months since it opened, the tiny treehouse post office has been thriving with correspondence and small adornments left by hikers who’ve happened past it.
If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, and you’d like to send your own piece of tiny correspondence through this unique little service, then be sure to keep your eyes peeled for it along the Curren Trail in Tilden Regional Park on the map marked below!
