Nomadio Gc204-2 The BomBot is a modified 4×4 remote controlled truck that has been equipped with a pan and tilt camera and a charge dispenser. The robot can reach speeds of 30 to 35 miles an hour. This compact and versatile system, which costs roughly $6,700, is being deployed in rigorous environmental conditions where more expensive robots with a greater logistical burden are currently used. In just 90 days, the first prototypes of the system were delivered to users in the field.Link.

    I remember a couple months ago some guy wrote about how another person in his unit had picked up a cheap $30 RC car to deal with suspected IEDs/junk in the road. He would grab the car, and ram it into whatever was suspicious. If the car could’nt move the object, they called in the bomb squad. If it could, they’d grab the car and keep driving. And they could definitely afford it if it was destroyed.

    One of the guys said “The pentagon really should issue these to everyone, and if they will, they’ll probably cost 10-100 times more.” quite right he was…
