I’m bookmarking the one for when I build my own speakers or mod a set of ones found in the trash – the enclosure is a great idea, a speaker icon! [via] – Link.

  1. That wiring trick doesn’t derive a center channel, it derives an out of phase signal. Put the center speaker behind you, not in front, for faux surround sound. It has the effect of widening the stereo.

  2. You sure that surround sound isn’t going to cause damage to the amplifier connecting the two positives? It seems to me it wouldn’t drive properly, and you’d just get the difference between the channels.
