This week’s CRAFT Pattern Podcast is the Ms. Poppins Bag by Sandi Wiseheart, Editor of Knitting Daily. The carpet bag-esqe bag reminded Sandi of the magical one that Mary Poppins carried and this simple to knit bag is just a rectangle you can sew up, embellish and add cute purse handles to!

Yarn: Elle Monet (53% acrylic, 47% polyamide; 95 yd [87 m]/100 g): #273 Gaugin (blue/brown /cream), 2 balls.

Needles: Size 10 ½ (6.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Gauge: 10 sts and 16 rows = 4″ in St st.

  1. Natalie, thanks to you and to Knitting Daily for this pattern! It was perfect timing – I’d just bought some Lion Brand Landscapes on clearance the day before, and had no clue what to use it for. My gauge was a little different than the pattern, but I made the calculations and completed my own Ms. Poppins Bag on Monday. I’ve put the picture up at Flickr, and tagged it the same as you did the pattern image, if you’d like to see it.
    Thanks again!
