I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.

Etsy has a team called Etsy for Animals (EFA), comprised of an impressive list of compassionate, animal-loving crafters who raise money for animal charities through their Etsy shop sales. Searching items tagged Team EFA produces about 563 pages of handmade goodness that helps animals in need. The team has a radio show on BlogTalkRadio, a dedicated site, and a blog. Above is a print of “Luna’s Eye” by Etsy crafter and EFA team member lkjohnston (Laura Johnston). Hooray for compassionate crafting!
