Doodle Desk is exquisite drawing surface for toddler

Stephen Hobley made this doodle desk for his toddler, using spare parts from around his garage. The stand holds a large roll of paper, which can be scrolled out to provide a continuous drawing surface for a young artist. I want one for myself!

  1. Imagine giving a hundred feet of drawings to your kid 30 years from now! I have very little of what I drew because it was so difficult for my parents to store my art, but the art made on this can be put in a tube, much easier than my stack and stacks of paper.

  2. Based on my own experience giving my daughter a huge stack of full-size newsprint, I predict that the roll on this device will last about one afternoon. The kid will scribble a little bit across a vast space, then ask for more paper. It’s a sweet design, though, and might work for an older kid who does discreet drawings.

  3. Why color on this when there are plenty of walls? It is a good idea-but I can see it turning into a giant roll of poop tickets (aka toilet paper).
