Jessica from Me Sew Crazy made this beautiful fabric painting inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Her process involves fabric strips and hot glue, and could also be a great project for kids. I love how much texture the fabric adds to the image, and I think the ornate gold frame is absolutely perfect.
You can find the how-to at Living With Punks.

This is magnificent. I might try something along this line, but not so detailed. I love the painting, SSN and a friend of mine had someone else paint this picture and frame it in a huge ornate gold frame as a gift to me. The picture is magnificent, but your scrap quilt picture is right up there. It is truly a work of art.
