Papier Mache Pumpkins from Martha Stewart's Handmade Holiday Crafts_Page_1.jpg
Holidays and crafting go hand-in-hand, and Martha Stewart’s Handmade Holiday Crafts is chock full of holiday how-tos (225 projects to be exact!). She starts the book off with New Years (ie. party hats, streamers, and glittered stirrers), then moves on in calendar order to Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day (love the sea glass jewelry!), Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas. Her instructions are nice and clear with lots of helpful “step” photos (but what else would you expect from Martha?). With holiday season coming right up, I’ve got my eye on her Halloween vampire bat piñata, her Thanksgiving tabletop accents (with a great napkin-folding technique section), and her holiday gift-wrapping ideas.

For a sneak peek of the book, here’s a papier-maché pumpkin project excerpt, which, when finished, is lit with battery powered lights. Perfect for your window, porch, or a stairway.

  1. I would love to win this book! I’ve always loved Martha Stewart’s Halloween crafts…it’d be awesome to try out some of her other holiday ideas!

  2. I’d love this book… because I think all of us hobbyists owe a debt of gratitude to Martha, who showed us not only how to take crafting from the “scary” (unintentionally)tacky pieces of the seventies and eighties, to simply put, easy steps to gorgeous crafts and homemaking tools. I know, I know, I don’t have an army of decorators and cleaners and crafters to decorate my home, but every time I see a beautifully done blog with step by step directions to create something gorgeous, I know that someplace back in time that blogger was influenced by Martha’s regime. That, and I really love the way that her books are laid out, teaching simply for beginners, but with projects detailed enough to engage those of us who already know how to sew, stitch, and paint!

  3. Wow! I would so love to win this book. Huge Martha fan and I love making and sharing her recipes, crafts, etc. with others.
