Capturing the title of largest LEGO build of all time, this X-wing starfighter was unveiled yesterday in Times Square in NYC. It will remain on view for only three days before heading to LEGOLAND California Resort for permanent install (thankfully they won’t attempt to launch this into space). Resembling the T-65 starfighter, this build stands eleven feet tall, measures forty-three feet long, and has a wingspan of forty-four feet. Assembled around a steel sub-structure, the “model” took thirty-two builders 17,000 hours to assemble the 5.3m bricks. Incredible!

There’s a great slideshow of behind-the-scenes images over on Mashable, and more pictures of the unveiling event on LEGO’s Facebook page.
