This Week in Making: Maker Kids, Crossbows, and the White House Science Fair

Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening around the Maker world this week, brought to you from Make: and beyond!



  • Youth scientists got a chance to show off their inventions and experiments at the White House Science Fair. The event took place on Wednesday, marking the 6th year of its existence and its last year under the Obama administration.

Tip of the Week:

The suction cup of a toy dart makes a handy tool for grabbing flat pieces in hard to reach places.


A typical day for Lisa includes: getting up to see the sunrise, bicycling, interning at Make:, reading and writing short stories, and listening to audiobooks and podcasts for hours while working on projects or chores.
