Lost in the desert? Well, not to worry, you may be about to stumble upon a little public pool conveniently placed there by artist Alfredo Barsuglia. The installation is called Social Pool and it’s only 11 by 5 feet wide with an automatic, solar panel-operated filter, chlorine system, and a locking cover.
Social Pool is located in the desert, in a remote area without any infrastructure. Be aware that there are no roads, trails or signs that lead to the pool. You will have to walk a certain distance in order to reach the pool from the nearest road. Don’t forget to bring drinking water, food and sun protection. For your stay in the desert, it’s recommended to wear a hat, sun glasses and boots.
If you’d like to go for a secluded little dip, all you have to do is swing by The MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles to pick up the keys and the GPS coordinates before making the trek out to the Mojave Desert.
