Drawing pendulum

Craft & Design

Thanks to Petros for submitting this cool project: a pendulum that slowly draws a picture.

These two installations of spinning pendulums can “print” any low-resolution picture in a unorthodox way. The head of the “printer” is the pendulum, that starts spinning after an initial push. Beside this, the pendulum’s movement or position is not controlled by any other way. The decreasing oscillation of the pendulum, covers most of the drawing surface. So, if the pendulum happens to be on a spot that needs to be drawn, some paint is dripped. The installation consists of a computer, a camera, a solenoid valve or an electric painting sprayer, paint and a program made with openframeworks. Hope you like it!
