Embroidery student Aising Smyth creates needlework that highlights the striking visual connection between digital icons and traditional embroidered imagery. In addition to their visual resemblances, these digital icons also function in a very similar way to the original purpose of the traditional embroidery sampler, which got it’s name from the latin word for example. Smyth, who is in her final year of art school, is also working on a project called “The Embellished CV,” which I am looking forward to seeing since all CVs are really a kind of sampler as well.
