Fantastically Functional Lego Mechanical Loom

A few years ago French mechanical engineer Nicolas Lespour created a functional Lego mechanical loom. Now, he’s back with a smaller, faster, version, and this time he’s written and illustrated a description of the project so that others can make their own looms.

After getting an encouraging response from the internet to his previous project, Lespour simplified the design and updated the construction with parts that are easier to find, which ended up improving the functionality of his project overall.

I wanted to build a new loom for a while but I have also discovered, after uploading my previous loom in Youtube in 2011, that [thousands of you] want the instructions! Nevertheless, I did not make the building instruction for my previous loom because it was composed of many parts, some rare, and was not reliable enough for me. But this loom was developed to be reliable, simple, fast and using standard parts. That is why I was motivated to create the building instructions for you!

This updated project is a great example of how, by engaging with each other through the internet, the maker community can help us to improve our own projects and inspire others make their projects even better!
