I love this post from DPS about transferring digital prints to wood. The technique seems simple, and list of supplies isn’t beyond what most people have in their garage or crafting space. To complete the transfer, all you need is:
- Laser printed photo
- Wood cut to the same size as photo
- Gel Medium (must be an acrylic gel medium)
- Brush to apply gel medium to wood
- Butter knife or flat instrument to smooth out print onto wood
- Wood stain (optional) and rags
- Pigment (optional)
- Sander or sand paper
- Soft Wax or Mod Podge to smooth and seal print
- Brush to apply wax
- Hanging brackets
- Fastening brackets (if multiple pieces of wood are used)
I need to pick up some Gel Medium, but I have the rest of the supplies. I’m thinking some vintage car posters for my son’s room, or maybe some tools for the garage… What print would you make?
