An avid hiker and prolific knitter and crocheter who goes by the handle Yarnbomber is currently in the process of blowing up a spectacular yarn bomb on a hiking trail called Lizard’s Mouth in Santa Barbara, California.

My goal is to draw more people into nature and I do so by detonating massive, colorful yarnbombs in the mountains. The date and location is kept a secret until the last minute. Each installation exists far from civilization and for just 9 days before being removed, leaving nothing in their wake aside from lots of photos and even more fond memories.

Yarnbomber collects pieces of knitted and crocheted fabric sent by people from all over the world in order to cover a different public place with a new yarn bomb each year.

The location that Yarnbomber chose this year had already been defaced with graffiti, so the yarn bomb will just be temporarily covering the pre-existing graffiti while it is refaced with yarn from May 23rd to June 8th.
