“A couple of freshman roomates at MIT set up a full-fledged dorm room automation system, complete with voice activation, web control, touch screen controllers, a security system, fingerprint scanner, automatic blinds, screens with news feeds, etc, all actuated by a central “MIDAS” controller which they built and wrote the code for. Pretty cool stuff. Probably the best part of the system is the “party mode” which will turn the entire room into an instant rave with the touch of a big red emergency stop button.”
