Nam June Paik’s Wobbulator

Craft & Design

Blair Neal put together this video demonstration of Nam June Paik’s Wobbulator. The Wobbulator, or Paik Raster Manipulation Unit, consists of a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) television, that has extra circuitry added so that the video display can be distorted by external signals. This results in some impressive abstract and geometric patterns, all of which are generated using nothing but the device and analog synthesizer circuitry. [Thanks, Kyle!]
