How-To: Sewing Pattern Decoupage Box

I have a rather large collection of sewing patterns that I know I am never going to use. Most of these are patterns have been donated to me, and I just can’t bear to throw them in the recycling. If you have the same hoarding tendencies like I have, and are seeking out ways to give these patterns a new life, this project may just peak your interest.

I love the aesthetic of the graphic lines, symbols, and the soft brown shade of tissue paper patterns. All of these elements come together quite nicely in this decoupaged wooden box project from Amy Anderson at the Modge Podge Rocks Blog. The way Amy has layered the patterns reminds me of an old world map when seen from a distance. Wouldn’t this look so neat in your sewing room?

I’m excited to dust off my patterns and turn them into something functional and pleasing to the eye. This project will work best on a wooden surface, but would also work on a cardboard box.
