Materials
1 string of 10 outdoor LED globe lights
5 sheets of thin red cardboard, each 22″ x 17″
5 sheets of thin white cardboard, each 22″ x 17″
Warning: To avoid any fire risk, use only outdoor LED lights with these light shades. As they are made from cardboard, these rose lights are suitable for outdoor use only in good weather, but can also be used indoors.
Directions
Step 1: Trim The Brim
Cut a 16 1/2″ disk from each sheet of cardboard. Find the center point. With paper scissors, cut a rough spiral shape starting at the outer edge and working into the middle. Keep the lines of the spiral between 4″ and 5 1/2″ apart, but it is fine if the edges are slightly wavy.
Step 2: Start The Rose
Cut a small hole in the very center of the spiral. Feed your light bulb through this central hole in the cardboard spiral. With the first section of the spiral, form a cone around the bulb and staple to secure, avoiding all wires.
Step 3: Staple In Place
Continue spiraling the cardboard around the bulb and stapling to secure. Twist and tighten as you proceed.
Repeat for each rose, alternating between red and white. For greater impact, make more than one string of lights.
