Craft & Design

Sonya Blesofsky makes these incredibly detailed sculptures of objects that she encounters in her daily life out of: vellum, glue and tape.

The construction of each piece is labor-intensive, yet once built, the work will soon break, decay or be deconstructed. In this way there is a sense of urgency for experiencing each piece, as this is temporary work. It is important that construction flaws be left visible-I intend to expose the process and techniques used in the creation of each work.

You can see Blesofsky’s work next month at Cuchifritos Art Gallery in Manhattan.
