I have several full-sized sewing machines that I use for project design and writing tutorials, but they aren’t always ideal for small, quick projects or for teaching and travel, so I’m definitely intrigued by the new VIVO Create and Repair Machine from Singer.

Because it’s designed to be accessible to makers who might not regularly sew, it seems to strike a good balance between basic, straight-forward features and versatility. (Plus, isn’t pink! Dudes and non-girlie sewers rejoice!)

“While SINGER® is known for sewing, we designed the Vivo™ with the non-sewer in mind as a handy household tool everyone can use,” said Katrina Helmkamp, CEO of SVP Worldwide, producer of the SINGER® brand. “With this machine, sprucing up your living space, taking on do-it-yourself projects, and completing basic household repairs is now quicker and easier than ever before.”

If the ease of operation is as intuitive as the minimal, compact design would suggest, the VIVO seems like it’d be a good starter machine for new stitchers or an ideal catch-all machine for a house full of makers.

Want to know more? You can check out the demo video on Singer’s homepage, then take a look at the stitches and specs here.
