Phone booths are a thing of the past, reserved more for decor (stylishly red in London) or more for comic book super-heroes. Today, all of us are exposed numerous times throughout the day to others’ (aka strangers) private phone conversations while we are innocently waiting for the metro, walking on the sidewalk, or even while eating inside restaurants. NYU student Jenny Chowdhury designed and stitched together a wearable cell booth that starts off as a backpack and then unfolds to create a personal cocoon to hold your secret conversations. Jenny says, “The project prompts people to take stock in how cell phone technology has altered the ways in which we communicate with each other and the environment surrounding us.” [ via ] Link.
