Wearable chair is inflated as you walk

Craft & Design

Korean-born, NYC-based artist Joo Youn Paek has created the “Self-Sustainable Chair” built from polyethylene lining and connected up to air pump shoes so that each step she takes adds air to the cushion. From her description: “Self-Sustainable chair is a conceptual garment that motivates users to consistently switch between walking and sitting as a loop behavior on the street. The balance between exercise and rest would be maintained by wearing this suit. The purpose of this project is to transform the humdrum experiences produced by routine walking commutes into an amusing interactive performance.” Check out the amusing video to decide if you could manage wearing this around town.
