Each winter especially around the holidays, I can’t seem to get enough of knitting and crochet projects. I’ve always got one, (ok at least 3 or 4 projects) going on. To keep your knitter or crocheter happy this holiday, here are some gift ideas I know they would love.
Baby Grape – South American Merino by UrbanGypZ ($30)
I love handspun and dyed yarn and this Baby Grape yarn is calling me. This yarn would knit up some of these most adorable socks or crocheted arm warmers.
You can also search for yarn on Etsy to find more handmade yarn goodness.
Lotta Jansdotter Tote & Zipper Set ($48)
I’ve been using Lotta Jansdotter totes for my knitting and crochet projects for years now. I love this tote with matching zipper set which can hold your notions such as stitch markers, large eye needle, and tape measurer.
Easy Stitch iPhone and iPod Touch App ($2.99)
When you are on the go, the Easy Stitch iPhone app gives you clear directions on the basic stitches for both knitting and crochet (also includes embroidery). There are needle conversion charts, needle/hook types, yarn weights, crochet chart symbols, tips and tricks, and patterns. It is a great app for beginners and I’m looking forward to how they expand it for more advanced users down the line with the updated versions.
Brittany Knitting Needles & Crochet Hooks ($7- $9)
I’ve always preferred wooden needles over metal because of the way they feel when you are working on your project. (They also slip off the needles less.) Brittany’s natural birch knitting needles and crochet hooks are my favorite because they are lightweight which is important when you are knitting or crocheting. The family-owned company also works hard to create a green way doing business. Find them in your LYS or visit the Brittany site to find a distributor near you.
Red Poppy Handmade Stitch Markers (set of 5) by Spotted Sheep Studio ($8)
These handmade stitch makers are a pretty way to keep your place in your project. These markers are snag free and made from Czech glass.
Knit Kit
This all-in-one compact kit is handy for stitchers while traveling or on the go. The pocket-sized tool is equipped with seven essential accessories, from tape measure to thread cutter to TSA-compliant scissors.
Interweave Knits ($25.00) or Interweave Crochet ($21.95)
Give a gift that will last all year long with a subscription to either Interweave Knits or Interweave Crochet. The quarterly magazines are full of patterns and inspiration.
Crochet Adorned by Linda Permann ($24.95)
This book is one of my favorite crochet books of the year and you can get a signed copy by Linda herself in her Etsy shop. It’s filled with great projects and lots of inspirational photos. You can read the book review here.
Knit Aid by Vickie Howell ($7.89)
Here’s a handy book for any knitter. A book that’s small and portable enough for your knitting bag yet chock full of knitting techniques for when you are in a jam. You can read the full book review here.
