Daniel Hutchinson of Alpharetta, GA, is the front man for Atlanta-based HYREL 3D, a startup launched in November through a highly successful Kickstarter campaign.
The idea behind their HighlY–RELiable 3D printer design is to provide an open-platform fused-filament printer that does not cost as much as “industrial” machines, but requires less assembly and maintenance time than kit-based systems.
They recently posted some pictures of their “Engine” prototype, which, among other amenities, features a fully embedded PC with industrial touchscreen controls.
Daniel and the rest of the HYREL team have been updating backers using a series of weekly livestreaming video broadcasts every Sunday night. More detailed information about their printers’ features is available through their pre-order page.
