We have seen a lot of great self-balancing robots over the past few years, but few of them have the same level of finish as the new EddiePlus. EddiePlus is an Intel Edison powered (get it Eddie/Edison) 3D printable robot. Eddie features rotary encoders on his wheels, a backpack to hold all of his electronics, and an interchangeable head – including a camera option for first person mode control. One look at EddiePlus, and you will see that some great design work has gone into him. None of his wires are exposed, his backpack not only hides his core electronics, but also protects them in the event of a fall, he even has little arms for carrying items around as you drive him.

EddiePlus is a work in progress and his creator, Thingiverse user diabetemonster, is currently working on an iOS control app to drive EddiePlus around your home or even dance for your friends. Be sure to watch the videos below for more action from EddiePlus.
