With Cinco de Mayo just a few days away, here are some quick, inexpensive decorations to make with colorful tissue paper. One of those big, multi-color packs from your local party store would yield a whole lot of festive decorations!
Up above, I just love this simplified take on the traditional papel picado (cut-paper banners) from Style Me Pretty. All you need are scissors and a few paper punches.
This little personal-sized pinata on Ruffled is made on a small balloon, using a papier mache base and then covered with tissue and filled with candy. What a fun party favor!
Martha Stewart offers up this simple and pretty tissue paper fringe, which looks like it would take just a few minutes to put together. I love how it can form a banner, or edge a table or bowl.
Technically speaking, these paper flowers on Aesthetic Nest are made from colorful cocktail napkins rather than tissue, but they could be easily adapted. I love the use of wooden skewers as stems here – you could put these into a vase, or build an interesting topiary-style display by sticking a bunch of them into a block of floral foam.
