DJ Pump is a Carved Pumpkin Disc Jockey

Andy Bergholtz, a commercial toy sculptor turned food sculptor and now a member of Villafane Studios, carved up this DJ pumpkin for Pacific San Diego Magazine. After carving clay figures for over a decade for companies such as Marvel Comics, Lucasfilm, and McFarlane Toys, Andy was encouraged last year to start carving in ‘pulp’ by renowned pumpkin carver Ray Villafane. Pictures below show how Andy used some simple carving tools to produce remarkable texture and depth in the pumpkin’s pulp. Also clever is Andy’s use of pumpkin stems as record-scratching (pun intended) hands.
