Our fabulous new projects library, Make: Projects, is getting bigger every day, with over 100 projects from the pages of MAKE and CRAFT magazines and from makers and crafters like you. We need your help to grow it even more, so if you haven’t already checked it out, come on over to makeprojects.com, sign up for an account, and start browsing. If you know how to make something, why not share your knowledge with the community? The site is a wiki (like Wikipedia) so you can even help to improve existing projects or pose a question about a particular step. If you’re skilled in a particular craft, like paper crafts for instance, you can help build out the topic page and share your skill. Make: Projects is a great resource for all of us, especially if we put our collective intelligence into it. Did I mention it’s fun, easy to use, and free? Here is a sampling of the crafty projects on the site:
Sewing
Serpent Scarf with Pocket
Angela Sheehan shows us how to make an adorable fleece serpent scarf with a secret pocket. She added the pocket to stash her gloves, and chose an array of fun colors for the snake body. This would be a great project to make with fleece remnants you may have from previous projects.
Recipes
Goat Cheese
Making your own goat cheese is fun and easy. Follow the 8 steps outlined here, and you can impress your friends at your next dinner party with homemade goat chevre platter.
Home and Garden
Concrete Planters in Scrap Styrofoam
Sean Michael Ragan found some discarded styrofoam, and gave it a new lease on life by using it as the mold for pouring some simple concrete planters. They look great just as-is, and their simplicity is ripe for painting and adding your own flair.
What are you waiting for? Come join the party and add your knowledge and skills to the mix on Make: Projects. Want to see more of something in particular? Have some feedback for us? We’d love to hear from you! Either comment here or email us at webmaster@makeprojects.com.
