Alphonse, Adam, Jon, and Dan made a Nintendo Wiimote controlled robot arm –

Video of a MiniMover 5 robot arm controlled by a Nintendo Wiimote. The arm and control algorithm was our semester project in an Electromechanical design class in the University of Michigan’s Mechanical Engineering department.

The MiniMover 5 is an educational robot from the early 1980s (this particular one last saw action in 1987). For this project we replaced the stepper motors with hobby servos, which are controlled through the USB to serial adapter. The laptop is running Kubuntu Edgy and the entire program was written in Python.
