DIY Debossed Concrete Centerpieces

It would be fair to say that concrete and gold leaf are my latest crafting material obsessions. This fantastically frugal planter project marries the two together so beautifully, and are perfect for wedding decor! When using gold leaf on a project, you are sure to score a ten on the bling-factor chart when compared to using regular gold spray paint.

The debossed feature in these castings are so impressive– see what I did there? The secret to creating these details is to include a fun foam cutout in your mold.

Start scrounging through the recycling bin for things like margarine and yogurt tubs to use as your mold. You could also build a custom mold from some wood or plastic, but remember to seal it really well especially if using wood, so you can release the mold from the finished casting. I’ve successfully used thin acrylic sheets, and taped the edges together with clear packing tape in a similar concrete casting project.
