Wisteria is just one of many amazing plants that cover the offices and the grounds, and it is a classic flower that has long been a favorite of artists, poets, and romantics. The main entrance to each building on the O’Reilly Media campus is covered with huge clusters of flowers that hang down from massive vines.
Wisteria vines are bare in the winter, and then in the spring they flower out. Large buds give way to masses of blossoms and their perfume is almost overwhelming. When the flowers fade, beautiful leaves appear that start a pale golden color and then mature into a dark green dense canopy.
The headquarters for CRAFT and MAKE are in Sebastopol, a funky little town in Northern California. Here, cool nights give way to morning fog, which burns off for warm afternoons. The conditions are perfect for growing just about everything, including apples, grapes, and flowers of all types. Besides these vines, the low water landscaping includes blooming groundcovers, Japanese maples, and many native plants. I’m going to share my favorite climbing rose tomorrow!
